KEEGAN: The opposite of loneliness

… let the words of this wise young woman provide the strength needed the next time someone gets lost in the loneliness of doubt and regret that can so easily creep into our minds. A soul taken much too soon. #shareherwords #restinpeace Marina Keegan

“We’re so young. We’re so young. We’re twenty-two years old. We have so much time. There’s this sentiment I sometimes sense, creeping in our collective conscious as we lay alone after a party, or pack up our books when we give in and go out – that it is somehow too late. That others are somehow ahead. More accomplished, more specialized. More on the path to somehow saving the world, somehow creating or inventing or improving. That it’s too late now to BEGIN a beginning and we must settle for continuance, for commencement.”

Self Esteem

Reblogged from heaven4earth.com:

Self esteem is the evaluation of the self, and any person does it individualy.
On a scale from 1 to 10, what is the amount of value you accredit yourself? I am convinced you are a ten,
yet a while a go, maybe you thought of yourself as only a 6 or maybe even less.

How come there are people that have a rock solid and high self esteem, while others have such a low self esteem, that they are afraid of leaving their own apartment.

It's the Diamond Jubilee for Queen Elizabeth

One of us has seen the collection of the Queen's Royal attire on display at Buckingham Palace. Guess what? She's tiny!

Did you know:

  • If you are in London during May 13-18, 2012, the Mall Galleries will host 35 years worth of portraits of the Queen?
  • A Royal portrait painter is given only (6) one hour sittings to compose their painting unless SHE gets chatty?

A little one in our family told us she came

Silent films and genre debates

Reblogged from The Bright Old Oak:

Think of Surrealism. No, not the paintings, the movies! "Un chien andalou", right? This is the film title that everyone has in mind when a question like this gets asked. Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dalí's short film, a collage of non-sense scenes and illogical actions, became popular in the 1930s and inspired generations of surrealist artists and art lovers for decades.

Stepping away from chaos: what about meditation?

Have you only got 10 minutes to eat? Is your deadline closer than you thought? Dozens of unopened e-mails keep popping up in your mailbox, missed phone calls coming, people knocking on your door. Oops, you also forgot to text your friend, and your boss is telephoning you. Oi! STOP. Today's society is so frenetic and chaotic…

Tea is for readers, coffee is for writers

Reblogged from The Bright Old Oak:

Think of tea: some English author comes to mind, possibly in the 19th century. You can literally see him staring out the window with a cup of tea in his right hand and a piece of paper in the other. There! Inspiration just came. He puts the teacup down and starts writing something. Now think of coffee: another author, perhaps American or even French pops up in our minds.
